‘Based on what we’ve heard so far we award One Nine an eleven’ - THE SCOTSMAN

Neil Mulholland and Kirstin Lynn got off to a flying start in the latter part of 2019 with their blistering first single ‘Difficult Days’, leading to a sold out debut show the following week. The pair kept up the momentum with anthemic follow up, ‘Lost Satellites’, and added to their rapidly growing reputation as an exhilarating live band with a selection of emphatically reviewed performances, as well as BBC Introducing radio play and “Hot New Band” status on Spotify.

“Now I know I’m in over my head” - Bloodrush is about trying to ‘play it cool’ whilst you’re falling hard and fast for someone. In keeping with the optimism that flows through their music, 'Bloodrush' conveys a hopeful innocence in the vocals whilst flirting with the duo’s more charming side in the playful pulse of the song. “This is probably the most romantic song we have,” jokes Mulholland. “It’s about trying to find that balance between keen and cool. Something I am utterly, utterly hopeless at...”

The song was produced by Chris Zane (Passion Pit/ Friendly Fires), “It was really exciting to work with Chris, he’s worked on a few albums that have been really influential on our music, that’s always going to feel inspiring” says Neil. Bloodrush was co-written with Kosuke Kasza (Holy Ghost!) who’s a friend and collaborator of Zane. “Chris introduced Kosuke and suggested we do some writing together, so after a luxurious trip on the trusty overnight bus from Glasgow to London, we got to work. We wrote a couple of songs in a really short space of time, Bloodrush was almost an afterthought, but when we returned to the idea there was a unanimous feeling that there was something special about it.”

With a growing number of festival appearances this summer, 2020 is already shaping up to be the year that sees One Nine make their mark on a much wider scale.

Bloodrush is released on 14th Feb 2020.
